Costumed Adventuring

Costumed Adventuring is a personal empowerment practice that involves creating an archetypal Character that embodies your deepest creative potential and using a Costume and other tools to bring the power of that Character into your life.

Treesong's exploration of Costumed Adventuring was originally inspired by superheroes. Now, he is part of the Real Life Superhero community. Not all Costumed Adventurers, however, pursue a path of crimefighting or community service. Instead, some express their potential through music, art, science, technology, and other creative pursuits.

Since it involves the use of costumes, some people mistake Costumed Adventuring for cosplay or other forms of roleplaying. There are, however, at least two major differences: (1) A Costumed Adventurer's Character is a unique creation based on their own personality and life goals, not a fictional character borrowed from someone else's fiction. (2) Costumed Adventurers do something real, like help people in need or create works of art, rather than pretending to do something.
