This comment seems a bit silly, but I approved it anyway. Here is my reply.

The American flag is a symbol of freedom to many people. The Circle A is also a symbol of freedom to many people. Therefore, I thought it'd be interesting to combine the two into a single design and see what happened.

If I wanted to communicate scorn, I would have made a flag in tatters, or a flag on fire, or a flag being pooped on by a polar bear. Instead, I chose to modify the flag to include what I consider to be a true symbol of freedom. Whether or not you agree with my line of thinking, this is just about the highest form of honor that I can pay to the flag.
