Permaculture is short for "permanent agriculture" or simply "permanent culture."
Permaculture is a design philosophy that strives to understand and work with natural energy flows rather than struggling against them. It observes patterns that unfold in the natural world and mimicks or replicates these patterns when designing and implementing human and non-human living systems. This creates a social, economic, political, and ecological infrastructure that can exist in harmony with its surroundings indefinitely.
Here is a series of videos about permaculture and Bill Mollison, who is a founding father of permaculture. The videos are very informative, but be forewarned: they have an amusing 80s flair to them. My personal favorite is the "permaculture music video" in Segment 4 below. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did, and I hope you learn more about the principles and practice of permaculture!
