What is Ultima?

Ultima is a computer role-playing game(CRPG) series created by Richard Garriott and the people at Origin. Ultima has been around since early in the history of CRPGs, and has continued to sell games throughout the 80s and 90s due to the innovative programming and inventive alternate worlds of the series.

Why a philosophy from a game?

During the year since the founding of the Wayfarers, many people have had one simple question about us: why a philosophy from a game? The answer to this is as simple and sensible as the question. Wayfarers find meaning and worth in The Way of the Avatar. Interest in the 'fictional' philosophy first arose in part because there is a certain charm to the fictional world of Britannia in which the Virtues first existed, and to the notion of a "hero" who is an average human being, but does great thing because of a yearning to seek that which is good in life.

Ultima	Ultima is the computer game series which features the Way of the Avatar. The Virtues are by no means only a game to the Wayfarers, but if you are interested in examining the source of this Way of life then this link is certainly the place to look.Without Ultima there would be no Wayfarers.

The Wayfarers guild	See the Wayfarers at play! This is the homepage of the Wayfarers guild, a group of Wayfarers on Ultima Online who are bringing our group to life in the fictional world of Britannia.
The Ultima Dragons	The Dragons are a group of people who are fans of the popular Ultima role-playing game series by Origin. Many of our members are Dragons, because as fans of Ultima most Dragons are naturally familiar with what the Way of the Avatar is.
Virtue Test	Which Virtue is the strongest in your heart? This test of Virtue, taken from the character creation sequence of Ultima V, will allow you to examine the notion of conflicts in Virtue and discover which Virtue may be strongest in your character. As you take the test, watch to see which symbol stands for which Virtue (Compassion=Rose, Valor=Sword, etc), to determine your result by looking at the symbol shown at the end of the test.
