Welcome to the Wayfarers homepage! The purpose of this page is to explain who the Wayfarers are and what we stand for. We are a group of people sworn to seek The Way of the Avatar to the best of our ability. What does this mean? To put it simply, we believe that the principles of Truth, Love, and Courage are a guide to an ideal way of life, a Way in which the Wayfarer constantly stuggles for what is good simply because it is good.

To some, an oath to seek what is "good" in life may sound like a passionless devotion to an abtract set of ethics, or a denial of the joys and pleasures of life in search of purity or greatness. Most if not all Wayfarers would agree that this is not the case. Seeking the Way of the Avatar means having a passion for life, caring about yourself and all around you in a way unimaginable to many. . This commitment to seeking Virtue does not mean you have to be an Avatar - it only means that you try to be a good person and seek to learn from the mistakes you make along the way.

This page is always a work in progress, but it should be a good introduction to who we are. You can e-mail the founder of the Wayfarers, Justin the Avatar, to learn more about Wayfarer activities and anything pertaining to membership or the Way of the Avatar. One of our main activities is chatting on Internet Relay Chat (IRC). For those of you who have access to IRC, we meet at various times in #wayfarers, a channel registered to Michelle Lee the Wayfarer. It's a good place to visit, whether you want to learn more about our way of life or just want to have a pleasant conversation with friendly people.

Who are the Wayfarers? The following is a list of links to pages which relate to the Wayfarers, including our member roster, a way to join the Wayfarers, and other important links
The Way of the Avatar	This page serves as an introduction to the Way of the Avatar. It describes the Principles, the Virtues, how they interrelate, and the general nature of the Way of the Avatar.
The Wayfarers Roster	This is a listing of all of the current members of the Wayfarers. It is updated within a few days of the joining of new members and contains links to the e-mail addresses of each Wayfarer who has an e-mail address.
Join the Wayfarers	Are you interested in the Way of the Avatar as a guide to life? Are you willing to seek a life of Truth, Love, and Courage? Then please, by all means join us! Remember that this is a serious commitment. Before taking the oath of membership, be sure you have a fair understanding of the Way of the Avatar and have thought over the decision carefully. We are happy to have new members. If you would like to talk to a Wayfarer before joining, please contact Justin the Avatar for more information.

The Wayfarers Gallery	This page is a glimpse into who some of the Wayfarers are. For each participating Wayfarer it has an entry with their name, their picture, their favorite web pages, and a brief self-description.
#wayfarers	#wayfarers is the only place on the Internet - in the world for that matter - where a sizable number of Wayfarers gather to talk to each other. You can find a wide range of chat here during the busy hours, from light conversation about music and weather to deep insights into the lives and thoughts of those who talk there. Feel free to visit even if you are not interested in joining the Wayfarers, and if you are considering membership this may be the best place to learn about us.
Ultima	The Way of the Avatar was derived from the predominant way of life in the fictional world of the Ultima series. This page explains Ultima and has a list of links for further investigation into the origin of the philosophy of the Wayfarers.

There is more to the Wayfarers and the Way of the Avatar than words can explain, more than anyone can teach. How do you explain with words and reason why it is better to love rather than hate, to seek understanding rather than live in ignorance, to stand up for your beliefs rather than let them be defeated? Some would say it is one of the greatest challenges of life to convey these concepts, and this is what the Way of the Avatar tries to do. Hopefully this page has provided some insite into who we are, what we stand for, and why we have joined the Wayfarers.
