Adrenal Burnout

[img_assist|nid=66|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=149|height=150]A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, I wrote a Song of the Trees entry comparing myself to the Six Million Dollar Man. I recognized that the insanities of today’s society had left me shattered and expressed my commitment to rebuild myself from top to bottom using my knowledge of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health and empowerment.

Well, it looks like I’ve still got about $5.9 million of repair work left!

Why, you ask? I’ve certainly made leaps and bounds in the realms of emotion, mind, heart, and spirit. I’ve also ensured that despite all odds, I survived the carnage that was wrought upon my flesh by my own mind and by the psychic assaults visited upon me by this society. For a time, it was an impressive comeback! But now, my new holistic doctor has diagnosed me with a severe case of adrenal burnout.

Love Outshines Hate

[img_assist|nid=65|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=150|height=95]On Wednesday, Oct 19, Judy Shepherd — mother of Matthew Sheperd and speaker on issues of diversity — was scheduled to speak at SIUC here in Carbondale. Due to illness, the event was cancelled. Even so, a dozen members of Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church came to town to spread their message of hate. In response, over three hundred SIUC students and Southern Illinois community members turned out to share a message of love and acceptance that outshined all efforts at spewing hatred.
