When we walked through the doors of this place
we took the first steps of a journey into ourselves.
You have taken us by the hand
wrapped your arms around us
and raised your voices in song
to draw us into this space
this forgotten wilderness of our true selves
like the tides of the ocean
drawing woodenn rafts to a lost continent.
Like experienced guides leading a hike into the forest
you have walked by our side
along winding dirt paths
over mossy fallen logs
and even straight through the thorniest thickets.
But you haven’t carried us in your arms
You’ve helped us to walk
with our own feet firmly on the earth
so that they will remember the way tomorrow.
As we return now into the world
we are awakening like a child drawing its first breath
and opening its eyes
to the smiling faces of its extended family.
For walking with us
for hugging us
for stomping and screaming with us
for whispering in our ears
for laughing through the tears
for taking our hand
through the first steps of our journey
we thank you.
May we one day shine
with a light as bright and colorful
as the soothing sunrise of spiritual love
that you have bathed and cleansed us in.
As we walk back out the doors
out into a new wilderness, a new world
a new way of walking and living
we will carry the glow of your light
and count the days until we hold hands again
and walk the path
together.
