I’m pleased to announce that all of my published climate fiction ebooks are now available on hoopla! Thanks to participating local libraries, you can now read these ebooks anytime you’d like at no cost to you. I encourage you to check these books out and invite you to tell your friends!
Hoopla is an online lending system used by over a million public library patrons who love ebooks, audiobooks, movies, music, comics, and other forms of digital content. If you’ve never borrowed an ebook before, it’s just like borrowing a library book. You browse the catalog, pick what you want to read, and click or tap the “Borrow” button.
Does your local library participate in hoopla? You can find out by visiting the hoopla website with your library card handy.
Hoopla operates on a pay-per-circulation model. In other words, each time you borrow a book or other resource, the author and/or publisher receives a small royalty. I like this model for three reasons:
- Library patrons like you don’t have to pay for ebooks or wait for other patrons to return them. It’s free to you and you get to read the ebook right away.
- Libraries don’t have to pay for a massive catalog of ebooks up front. They just pay when the books are actually borrowed.
- Authors like me get a small royalty every time someone borrows one of our books! This means that as long as new people keep reading my ebooks, I keep getting author income.
If your library participates in hoopla, please use this wonderful service to read as many climate change books as you’d like, including but not limited to my climate change books. Reading about climate change informs us about climate change and inspires us to take action for climate justice.
Thank you for reading! If you like hoopla, be sure to show your gratitude by doing anything you can to support your local library. Volunteer, donate, advocate for continued/more funding at public meetings, and so on. Libraries are such an important part of every society that has them. Making print and digital books available for everyone to read is just one of the many wonderful services they provide to our communities.
