My first novel, Change, now has wider distribution! In other words, you no longer have to go through Amazon to get a copy of Change.
I announced in February that I was expanding distribution of my writing beyond Amazon. Due to the pandemic and various other delays, that transition is taking longer than I originally planned. However, I’m pleased to announce that I’ve just published the ebook edition of Change to all of the distribution channels available through Draft2Digital. This currently includes Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo (including Kobo Plus), Tolino, OverDrive, Bibliotheca, Scribd, 24Symbols, Baker & Taylor, and Hoopla. I’ll also be publishing a print edition of the novel through Draft2Digital soon. Their print publishing is currently in beta testing and I’m on the list to participate in that beta soon.
I chose to launch my expanded distribution of Change on this day because it’s the seventh anniversary of the original publication of the novel. It’s also the eleventh anniversary of the May 2009 Southern Midwest Derecho, which I wrote about in detail on my blog eleven years ago.
It’s going to take time for Change to show up in all of the new places where you can buy or borrow it. You can check where it’s currently available by visiting this Universal Book Link for Change. This page shows all of the places where you can buy Change online.
If you’re reading this on May 8, there may not be many places listed on the new UBL page for Change. Each bookseller or lender takes time to add new books to its collection. If your favorite place isn’t listed there yet, check back again soon or let me know what you’re looking for. I’ll also post a quick update when it’s visible on all (or almost all) of the new sites. In the meantime, non-Amazon sites that sell new or used print books may have new or used print copies.
As of early Friday afternoon, I still only see a Kindle purchase option. But the other options should appear over the course of the weekend and coming week. [Hoopla apparently takes a long time to add new titles, which I was sad to hear. But I’m looking forward to having my work there eventually!]
My other books should also be available through these expanded distribution channels soon. Formatting and republishing Change took extra time because I didn’t have a well-formated copy of the novel and had never published through Draft2Digital before. Publishing Goodbye Miami, Cli-Fi Plus, and Order should be somewhat quicker. I already have the necessary files and ISBNs. It should just take a couple of hours per title to make sure that all of the formatting and settings look good.
